Mira Vista Garden Education Center
At Mira Vista School, our aim is to instruct, inspire and reward a change to healthy lifestyle habits.
The Mira Vista School Garden Education Center is complete with a greenhouse, a community space, a food preparation area, and a resource library containing lesson plans and garden/nutrition books. We have created a thriving outdoor classroom utilized and loved by the school community and teachers in the school district. The MV garden serves as a model and demonstrates how a diverse school with limited resources can grow an exemplary garden program with many partnerships.
The Mira Vista Garden Program is currently sponsored by Growing Together, a local organization supporting garden education. Funding is provided by the city of Richmond, the PTA and the Student Site Council. The program is committed to building eco-literacy, promoting social-emotional learning, and expanding outdoor learning sanctuaries for students.
