Compost is organic material that can be added to soil to help enrich the soil with beneficial bacteria and fungi that breaks down to create a nutrient-rich material that helps plants grow. It suppresses plant disease and pests and reduces the need for fertilizers.

According to the EPA, “Food scraps and yard waste together currently make up more than 30 percent of what we throw away and could be composted instead. Making compost keeps these materials out of landfills where they take up space and release methane, a potent greenhouse gas.”

Do your part and compost your food and yard waste! Watch this short, easy tutorial to show you how!
